Favorite Tool: I love the chop saw! It was the first saw I learned how to use and it opened  a whole new world of creative possibilities for me.

Favorite DIY Project: Learning how to tile my bathroom shower is high on the list of my favorite DIY projects. It was a labor of love with a high payoff. Sometimes I just go look at it when I need to remember I can do challenging things.

Why I wanted to get involved with the ToolBox Project: I am inspired by groups of people who create what they want to see in their communities. I am also an avid maker, learning how to tackle all kinds of projects, from 3-D paintings to house renovations. I feel really grateful to get to work with the ToolBox Project, and be around others who value sharing resources and skills with each other.

My Background: I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2016, I did a work/trade program with local farms across the country, and one of the stops landed me in Eugene. I fell in love with the unique people, fresh produce, and giant forests, so I stayed. Here, I have worked as a teacher, non-profit program manager, carpentry apprentice, and house painter.

Favorite Tool:
I like the measuring tape! It is extremely useful for a wide range of projects. I always make sure to carry one with me.

Favorite DIY Project: Painting and renovating my room in Eugene has been one of my favorite DIY projects. I have been investing time into making that space as cozy and catered to my aesthetic preference as much as possible.

Why I wanted to get involved with the ToolBox Project: I am interested in being part of spaces that serve as great community resources, such as the ToolBox Project. I am excited by the opportunity of doing bilingual outreach work to connect with both Spanish and non-Spanish speakers, and to work along with a great group of people at the ToolBox Project to help community members work on their projects.

My Background: Born and raised in Mexico City, I did a BA in Fine Arts and came to Eugene in 2023 to pursue my MA in Art History. I have worked teaching for multiple years, including at the University of Oregon. I was also an intern and worked as a collections assistant at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.  Apart from my art background, I enjoy volunteering in environmental organizations and getting involved in community-oriented projects, coordination positions and communities. I love learning multiple languages, traveling, and learning about other cultures.

Herramienta favorita:

Me encanta aprender varios idiomas, viajar y conocer otras culturas.
