Holiday Closures: We'll be closed November 23 & 25, December 22-January 3
so our volunteers can enjoy some well deserved time off with friends and family.
Pick up tools the week before our closures and you get any fees waived while we're closed.
Become a ToolBox Project member and borrow the tools you need!
Joining is easy--just follow these steps. Renewing your membership is easier—skip to Step 3:

Membership FAQs
Who can join the ToolBox Project?
All Lane County residents over the age of 18 are welcome to become ToolBox Project members.
What kinds of tools does the ToolBox Project have, and how long can I keep them?
The ToolBox Project carries a wide range of hand and power tools for building and garden projects ranging from hammers to table saws and trowels to post-hole diggers. You'll find our full collection on the Inventory Page. You can borrow our tools for one week, and can often renew them for an additional week if another member has not reserved them in advance.
How will I know which tools are available?
You can view which tools are available and which ones are checked out on our Inventory Page.
Can I reserve tools?
Yes! Once you have completed your membership application (including providing us with a signed copy of the liability waiver and tool use policy form) you can log in to our Inventory Page and start reserving tools for your project. If you submit your liability waiver and tool use policy form online, we'll let you know when your membership is complete and at that point you'll be able to reserve tools.
How much does it cost to join?
The ToolBox Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and to keep it running, we recommend an annual donation of $20 per individual borrower or $30 for two adults living in the same home. Membership donations are recommended but not required. We won't turn away anyone for whom making a donation is a hardship. Non-profits pay an annual $100 membership fee and businesses pay an annual $150 membership fee. We accept cash, credit, check or PayPal (above). Just like the public library, each individual borrower must obtain his or her own membership. For work parties or group events, each and every person using our tools must sign a liability waiver.
How much will it cost to borrow tools?
Borrowing fees help us maintain and repair the tools we share, and range from $0-$10 per tool per week. The majority of hand tools have $0 borrowing fees, while power tools range from $3-$10 per tool per week, depending on the tool. Visit our Inventory Page to see individual tools and prices. If you return a tool after its due date, you will pay a late fee starting at $.25/day or higher, depending on the tool.
Where does the money from membership donations, borrowing and late fees go?
Our aim is to keep the ToolBox Project a financially self-sustaining 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We use membership donations and borrowing and late fees collected to run our organization and buy and maintain our tools.
This sounds so fantastic that I want to volunteer and/or make a donation, too! How do I do those things?
